Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot has released the Sports Category Merit List for candidates who applied for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under NEET UG 2026 during the 1st Round of Online Counselling. The notice is dated 02 September 2026 and states that the Sports Category Merit List has been prepared by the Office of the Director, Sports, Punjab.
The university has clarified that since this is the technically first counselling of candidates under the Sports Category, the published Sports Merit List will be used for the allotment of seats under the Sports Category in the 2nd Round of Online Counselling.
Sports Merit List to Be Used for 2nd Round Seat Allotment
According to BFUHS, the Sports Category Merit List prepared for candidates who applied during the first round will be considered for allotment of seats reserved under the Sports Category in the 2nd Round of online counselling.
The merit position will be determined on the basis of the Sports Merit Evaluation. In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the Sports Merit Evaluation, their inter-se merit will be decided on the basis of their NEET UG 2026 rank.
This means that candidates with identical Sports Merit Evaluation scores will be ranked according to their respective NEET UG 2026 ranks for determining their relative position in the merit list.
Applications Received in 2nd Round to Be Considered in 3rd Round
BFUHS has also clarified the treatment of candidates who submit applications under the Sports Category during the 2nd Round of Online Counselling.
Such applications will not be considered for the 2nd Round Sports Category allotment. Instead, candidates applying under the Sports Category during Round 2 will be considered for the 3rd Round of counselling.
This clarification is particularly important for candidates who have not applied under the Sports Category during the first round and are planning to submit an application during the second round.
