Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 is the state-level admission process for MBBS, BDS, and other Health Science courses in Maharashtra’s government and private medical colleges. It is conducted by the Commissioner, State CET Cell, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, the state’s designated Competent Authority, through its official website mahacet.org.

Admission to 85% of MBBS/BDS seats in Maharashtra (State Quota) is handled by the State CET Cell through its Centralized Admission Process (CAP), while the remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are counselled separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The admission process of both will accept only those applicants who have qualified the NEET UG 2026 that was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 

As the NEET UG 2026 exam held on 3rd May 2026 was cancelled followed by conducting of Re-NEET exam on 21st June 2026, the counselling for this year has been delayed. State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has released the CAP Round 1 schedule for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026-27 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. The counselling Online Registration and Session Apply has started from 6th Aug, 2026 to 12/08/2026 upto 11.59 pm.

Maharashtra State CET Cell has released the revised CAP Round 1 schedule for MBBS/BDS (Group A) admissions 2026–27 following the extension of MCC’s All India Quota counselling. Fresh registration, fee payment and document submission will be conducted from August 20 to 21, 2026, followed by document verification and merit lists on August 23.

State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has released Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026-27 Date of CAP Round 1 schedule for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. For NRI candidates, the revised notice states that registration on the Foreign Candidate Registration Portal must be completed before August 20, 2026, up to 11:59 PM for verification of eligibility. The subsequent counselling schedule will remain as notified for the CAP process. Thereafter, NRI candidates must follow the same counselling schedule, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting process as other eligible candidates. Failure to complete the Foreign Candidate Registration within the prescribed deadline may result in ineligibility for NRI quota admissions.

Types of Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026

Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 is organised into the following broad types based on quota and conducting authority:

• State Quota Counselling (85% seats): Conducted by the State CET Cell through CAP for candidates who are domicile of Maharashtra, admitting to Government, Corporation, Government-Aided, and Private/Minority medical and dental colleges.
• All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling (15% seats): 15% of seats in Government/Corporation medical and dental colleges are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on an all-India NEET UG rank basis; these seats do not revert to the state.
• Institutional Quota Counselling (15% in Private/Minority colleges): For MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BUMS, 15% of seats in unaided private/minority colleges are filled on an all-India basis (including NRI, OCI, and Outside-Maharashtra-State/OMS candidates) by the Competent Authority through online CAP rounds.
• AYUSH Counselling (BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/BNYS): Conducted alongside MBBS/BDS under the same broad CAP framework by the State CET Cell, with 15% All India Quota seats routed through the Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC).
• GOI Nominee Seats: A fixed number of seats at Government Medical (16), Government Dental (3), and Government Ayurved (5) colleges are reserved for nominees of the Government of India, filled by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
• NRI & Institutional Quota for Other Courses: For courses other than MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS (such as BPTh, BOTh, BASLP, BP&O), institutional quota seats at private colleges are filled directly by the respective institutes from eligible registered candidates.

Maharashtra NEET Counselling Eligibility Criteria

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling process runs through the following broad stages every year:

1. Notification Release: The State CET Cell publishes the Information Brochure and detailed schedule on mahacet.org.
2. Online Registration & Fee Payment: Candidates register, fill in details, and pay the applicable registration fee.
3. Document Upload: Scanned certificates (domicile, nationality, category, income, etc.) are uploaded online.
4. Provisional State Merit List: Prepared based on NEET UG rank and the information/documents submitted online.
5. Online Preference (Choice) Filling – Round 1: Candidates arrange college-course options in order of preference.
6. Declaration of Selected Candidates – Round 1: Seats are allotted based on rank, category, and preferences.
7. Document Verification & Joining: Selected candidates report to the allotted college with original documents and pay fees.

Here's how to register for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 on the official State CET Cell portal (mahacet.org):

1. Visit mahacet.org and click on the NEET UG (Health Science Courses) counselling link.
2. Register as a new candidate using your NEET UG 2026 roll number and basic personal details.
3. Create your login credentials for future use throughout the counselling process.
4. Fill in academic details, domicile status, nationality, and category/reservation claims (SC/ST/VJ/NT/OBC/SEBC/EWS/PWD/Defence/MKB/Hilly Area, as applicable).

• SEBC (Socially & Educationally Backward Classes) Reservation: 10% of available State Quota seats in Government/Government-Aided/Corporation/Private Unaided institutions (excluding Minority institutions), subject to ongoing court proceedings.
• EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Reservation: 10% of available State Quota seats, for candidates with family gross annual income below ₹8,00,000, in the prescribed State Government format only.
• All India Quota (AIQ): 15% of intake in Government/Corporation Medical & Dental colleges (via MCC) and 15% in Government/Aided/Private BAMS/BUMS/BHMS colleges (via AACCC).
• Specified/Parallel Reservations: Defence Personnel's children, Persons with Disability (PWD), Maharashtra-Karnataka Border (MKB) area candidates, and Hilly Area (HA) candidates — these specified-reservation seats are filled first during allotment.
• Vacant Reserved Seats: Seats unfilled in a reserved category first go to other candidates within the same group's inter-se merit list, then to all constitutional-reservation categories combined, and finally to the common merit list; unfilled EWS/SEBC seats go to the general category.
• Non-Creamy Layer Requirement: Candidates claiming VJ/NT/OBC/SEBC benefits must submit a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate; failing this, they are treated as general category candidates (if otherwise eligible).

Maharashtra NEET Counselling Seat Allotment Process

• Seat allotment in every CAP round is based on the candidate's NEET UG rank, domicile/eligibility status, category/reservation claims, seat availability, and the preferences filled.
• Allotment first considers specified reservations (Defence, PWD, MKB, Hilly Area), followed by constitutional reservation categories, and then the general/open merit pool.
• A candidate allotted a seat must report for document verification and pay the fee within the notified time, failing which the allotment can be cancelled and the seat pushed to the next round.
• Candidates can continue to participate in subsequent rounds (Round 2, Round 3) for an upgrade, based on the "retention"/status option they choose after joining a college.
• Round 3 allows fresh registration for candidates who missed the earlier rounds, and a combined merit list (Round 1 & Round 3) is prepared before this round's choice filling.
• Any seats remaining vacant after the Online Stray Vacancy Rounds at private/unaided colleges may be filled through an Institute-Level Stray Vacancy Round conducted directly by the college.
• Candidates found submitting false certificates, incorrect category claims, or misrepresenting domicile can have their admission/candidature cancelled at any stage.
