Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS), Andhra Pradesh, has issued a notification regarding the Free Exit facility for candidates who reported to or joined MBBS colleges under Phase 1 Competent Authority Quota counselling for the academic year 2026-27.
As per the notification dated September 10, 2026, Phase 1 reported/joined candidates who wish to exit from their allotted seat can avail the Free Exit facility up to 2:00 PM on September 12, 2026. Candidates must submit their exit request to the Principal of the concerned college.

Candidates Must Submit Free Exit Request by September 12
Candidates who have reported to or joined their Phase 1 allotted MBBS college under the Competent Authority Quota can exercise the Free Exit facility by submitting their request on or before 2:00 PM on September 12, 2026.
The university has advised candidates to take an informed and calculated decision before opting for Free Exit.
Importantly, candidates who exercise the Free Exit facility will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of Competent Authority Quota counselling.
However, such candidates may join Management Quota (MQ) Phase-I counselling of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, if a seat is allotted, as specified in the notification.
Original Certificates and Fees to Be Returned
The concerned college Principals have been instructed to accept Free Exit requests in the prescribed format.
After receiving the request, the college is required to:
- Return the candidate’s original certificates.
- Return the entire tuition fee and other fees, if any, to the candidate.
- Complete the process immediately after receiving the request.
- Complete the process no later than 2:00 PM on September 12, 2026.
The notification clearly states that no candidate will be permitted to withdraw from the Phase 1 joined seat after the stipulated deadline.
Candidates Exiting Before Deadline Will Not Be Considered Joined for Phase 2
Candidates who resign from their Phase 1 reported/joined seat before the prescribed deadline will be considered as not reported/not joined.
The seats vacated through such Free Exit will subsequently be filled during Phase 2 counselling, as per the applicable rules.
On the other hand, after the Free Exit deadline, all Phase 1 reported/joined candidates will be considered as part of Phase 2, and the Phase 2 counselling rules will apply to them as per the notified procedure.
Candidates Not Opting for Free Exit Can Participate in Phase 2
Candidates who have reported to their Phase 1 allotted college but do not exercise the Free Exit option will remain eligible to exercise Web Options for Phase 2 counselling.
Their choices will be considered according to the prescribed counselling procedure and order of preference.
Candidates who did not report to the Phase 1 allotted college will also be eligible to exercise Web Options in Phase 2 for other colleges, except the college which they did not join, as stated in the notification.
No Resignation During Later Admission Stages
Dr. NTRUHS has also issued an important clarification regarding discontinuation from the course.
Candidates who have reported to their allotted college but do not utilise the Free Exit facility within the prescribed schedule will not be permitted to resign from the seat during the course of admissions, beginning from Phase 3 counselling until closure of admissions.
Therefore, candidates who are considering leaving their Phase 1 allotted seat should carefully evaluate their decision and complete the Free Exit process within the specified deadline.
Public Holidays to Be Treated as Working Days
The university has specifically stated that all public holidays shall be treated as working days for the purpose of the notified Free Exit process.
Candidates should therefore not assume that a public holiday will extend the deadline.
