The notice, issued from Lucknow on September 3, 2026, focuses on choice filling, choice locking, admission procedures and fee payment requirements.
The notice is applicable to candidates declared successful in NEET UG 2026 who are participating in the Uttar Pradesh state counselling process. The DGME has specifically advised candidates to carefully fill their college preferences and complete all mandatory steps within the prescribed schedule.
Only Eligible and Verified Candidates Can Fill Choices
According to the notice, only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and are participating in the UP NEET UG 2026 counselling process can proceed with choice filling.
Importantly, candidates whose security money has been deposited and whose documents have been verified will be eligible for choice filling.
Candidates should ensure that their registration, security fee payment and document verification requirements have been completed before proceeding to the choice-filling stage.
Fill Choices According to Preference
The DGME has advised candidates to fill their choices for admission to government and private medical/dental colleges according to their preferred priority.
Candidates should select only those colleges in which they genuinely wish to take admission.
The notice advises candidates to arrange their preferences carefully because the choices submitted during counselling will form the basis of the allotment process.
Choice Filling Should Be Done Carefully
Candidates should consider their preferred college, course and applicable admission category before submitting their choices. They should avoid adding colleges merely for the sake of increasing the number of choices if they are not willing to join those institutions.
Choice Locking Is Mandatory
One of the most important instructions issued by DGME is that choice locking after online choice filling is mandatory.
Candidates must lock their choices within the prescribed time.
If a candidate fails to lock the choices, the candidate will be automatically excluded from the seat allotment process.
Therefore, candidates should not wait until the final moment and should ensure that their submitted preferences are successfully locked.
No Changes Allowed After Choice Locking
Once the choices have been locked, no modification or change will be permitted in the locked choices.
The notice also states that applications received by the Directorate regarding changes in locked choices will not be considered.
Candidates are therefore advised to thoroughly check their choice sequence before completing the locking process.
Admission Process for Government Medical and Dental Colleges
Candidates allotted seats in government-sector medical or dental colleges will complete their admission process at the college to which they have been allotted the seat.
Candidates should follow the admission instructions issued by the allotted institution and complete the required formalities within the prescribed deadline.
Private Medical and Dental College Admission Through Nodal Centres
For candidates allotted seats in private medical and dental colleges, the admission process will be conducted through nodal centres designated by the State Government.
The DGME has stated that the list of designated nodal centres has been provided in the UP NEET UG 2026 brochure.
Candidates allotted private-sector seats should therefore carefully check the designated nodal centre and follow the prescribed admission procedure instead of directly assuming that admission formalities can be completed at the allotted college.
Candidates Must Check Tuition Fee Details
Candidates allotted seats in private minority and non-minority medical/dental colleges have been advised to check the applicable tuition fee information themselves.
The relevant fee orders are available on the official websites of the UP NEET counselling authority and Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh.
Candidates should verify the applicable tuition fee before proceeding with admission and fee-related formalities.
Bank Draft Required for Private College Admission
The DGME has issued an important instruction regarding payment of tuition fees for candidates allotted seats in private medical/dental colleges.
Candidates will be required to bring the prescribed tuition fee in the form of a bank draft drawn in favour of:
“Director General, Medical Education & Training, U.P. Payable at Lucknow”
The bank draft must be submitted at the designated nodal centre at the time of admission.
The notice makes it clear that failure to deposit the required fee through the prescribed mode may result in the admission being treated as cancelled.
UP NEET UG 2026 Government Order Also Available Online
The notice refers to Government Order No. I/1448377/2026 dated September 1, 2026, relating to UP NEET UG 2026.
Candidates can access the relevant government orders and counselling information through the official UP NEET and DGME Uttar Pradesh websites. The official UPNEET portal currently lists the Round 1 choice-filling and admission schedule, along with the UP NEET UG 2026 policy and fee-related notifications.
The UP NEET candidate portal also specifically warns candidates to lock their choices after submitting preferences, failing which they will be debarred from the seat allotment process.
Candidates Should Regularly Check Official Websites
The DGME has advised candidates to continuously monitor the official departmental websites for updated information and announcements related to UP NEET UG 2026 counselling.
