Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has extended the option-entry deadline for Karnataka NEET UG 2026 Round 2 counselling for admission to medical and dental courses.
As per the KEA notification dated September 9, 2026, candidates can now modify, alter or delete their options for the second-round seat allotment until September 10, 2026, at 9:30 AM.
The extension has been announced after the Government issued the seat matrix for Bagalkot Medical College and Research Centre, Bagalkote, which has been newly added to the KEA website. Eligible and interested candidates can now add options for this college during the extended option-entry window.

Option Entry Extended Till September 10
KEA has informed candidates that the option-entry facility has been extended up to September 10, 2026, at 9:30 AM.
Candidates who wish to participate in the second-round seat allotment can use the extended window to modify, alter or delete their previously entered options, wherever required.
Candidates should log in to the KEA counselling portal before the deadline and ensure that their preferences are saved and submitted successfully.
Bagalkot Medical College Added to Seat Matrix
A key reason for the extension is the addition of the Bagalkot Medical College and Research Centre, Bagalkote, to the Round 2 seat matrix.
According to the KEA notification, the Government has issued the seat matrix for the newly added college, and the same was hosted on the KEA website on September 7, 2026.
Eligible and interested candidates can therefore add options for Bagalkot Medical College and Research Centre to their Round 2 preferences.
The notification does not specify the number of seats in the newly added college; candidates should refer to the latest seat matrix available on the KEA website for the applicable seat details.
Candidates Should Preserve Their Final Options
KEA has advised candidates to carefully review their preferences before the option-entry deadline.
Candidates are required to preserve a printout of the finally submitted options for future reference.
The authority has also advised candidates to log in to the portal on or before the last date prescribed for option entry for Round 2 and ensure that their options are properly saved and submitted.
Vacant Seats May Change During Counselling
KEA has clarified that the seats displayed in the seat matrix may change from time to time.
Seats may become available due to cancellation, forfeiture or newly added seats. Candidates have therefore been advised to regularly check the KEA website for updates regarding seat availability.
The authority has also stated that the seats displayed in the matrix are not necessarily the final seats available for allotment.
Consequential Vacancy Seats to Be Considered
KEA has further clarified that the seats will be considered for allotment as a result of any consequential vacancy arising during the seat-allotment process.
Therefore, candidates have been advised to retain all the options in which they are interested, irrespective of the seats shown in the current seat matrix.
This is important because additional vacancies can arise during the counselling process as candidates upgrade, cancel or otherwise vacate seats.
Karnataka NEET UG 2026 Round 2: What Candidates Should Do
Candidates participating in Karnataka NEET UG Round 2 counselling should:
- Log in to the KEA counselling portal.
- Review their existing medical and dental course/college preferences.
- Add Bagalkot Medical College and Research Centre if eligible and interested.
- Modify, alter or delete options wherever required.
- Retain all preferred options, even if seats are not currently shown as vacant.
- Save and finally submit the options before the deadline.
- Preserve a printout of the finally submitted options for future reference.
- Continue checking the KEA website for changes in seat availability and further counselling updates.
