Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has released the Round 2 seat matrix for NEET UG 2026 MBBS and BDS admissions. The seat matrix provides details of the seats available for the second round of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for eligible candidates.
The Round 2 seat matrix has been released ahead of the online choice/preference filling process scheduled from September 8 to September 10, 2026. The Round 2 selection list is scheduled to be published on September 12, 2026.
According to reports based on the Maharashtra counselling data, 2,645 MBBS and BDS seats are available for Round 2 after completion of the first round of admissions.

The official Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra portal lists NEET UG 2026 admission notices and seat-matrix documents for MBBS/BDS admissions.
1,253 MBBS Seats Available for Round 2
After the first round of Maharashtra NEET UG counselling, 1,253 MBBS seats remained vacant for subsequent admission rounds.
Of these, 415 seats are in government medical colleges, while 838 seats are in private medical colleges.

This means around 84.58% of the available MBBS seats were filled during the first round, leaving 1,253 seats for further counselling.
1,392 BDS Seats Remain Vacant
The BDS course has a considerably larger number of vacant seats for the second round. Out of 2,517 BDS seats, 1,125 candidates completed admission in Round 1, leaving 1,392 seats vacant.

The figures indicate that private dental colleges account for the largest share of the vacant BDS seats going into Round 2.
Maharashtra NEET UG Round 2 Choice Filling from September 8
Candidates eligible to participate in Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 CAP Round 2 can submit their college and course preferences from September 8 to September 10, 2026.
Candidates should carefully review the Round 2 seat matrix before submitting their preferences. The seat availability can vary according to college, course, category and applicable quota.
The Round 2 selection/allotment list is scheduled for September 12, 2026.
Seat Improvement Option Available
Candidates who secured seats in Round 1 may also participate in the process according to the applicable counselling rules and their selected option.
A substantial number of Round 1 MBBS candidates opted for seat improvement/betterment instead of freezing their allotted seats. In government medical colleges, 3,677 candidates opted for improvement, while 888 candidates froze their seats. In private medical colleges, 2,062 candidates opted for improvement and 249 candidates froze their seats.
For BDS, 177 candidates in government colleges and 768 candidates in private colleges opted for improvement during the first round.
