According to the notice published on September 14, 2026, candidates who received a Round 1 seat based on their merit and choices and selected the FREEZE option can surrender their allotted seat without forfeiting the security deposit.
Such candidates must personally report to the concerned institute on or before 5:00 PM on September 16, 2026 to complete the surrender process.

Freeze Candidates Must Report to College
Candidates who selected the FREEZE option and completed their admission process at the allotted institute must surrender the seat by personally reporting to the concerned institute.

Float Candidates Can Surrender Through Login
The university has prescribed a different procedure for candidates who were allotted a Round 1 seat but selected the FLOAT option.
Such candidates who now wish to surrender their allotted seat without forfeiting the security deposit can surrender the seat by logging into their candidate account using their Login ID. The online surrender facility will remain available up to 5:00 PM on September 16, 2026.
No Surrender After September 16, 5 PM
HNBUMU has clearly stated that no candidate will be permitted to surrender the Round 1 seat after 5:00 PM on September 16, 2026.
Therefore, candidates who do not wish to continue with their Round 1 allotted seat should complete the required surrender process before the deadline. Missing the deadline may result in the candidate being unable to surrender the seat under this provision.
Candidates Should Check Their Counselling Status
Candidates are advised to carefully determine whether they want to retain their Round 1 seat or surrender it before the deadline.
Those who wish to surrender should follow the procedure applicable to their FREEZE or FLOAT status rather than waiting until the last moment.
